NCAAF Team Stats

Every FBS offense and defense on EPA, success rate, explosiveness, tendencies and situational efficiency, with ranks among all FBS teams, league averages and percentiles.

Reading the table

Pick Offense or Defense, a season, a window and, if you like, one conference. Rank (#) is EPA per play among all FBS teams: for offenses the highest is first, for defenses the lowest allowed is first. Filtering to a conference keeps the FBS rank, so you can see where the Big Ten's best offense sits nationally. Green is better than the FBS average and brick-red is worse, with defensive colours flipped. Display → Show → Percentiles swaps every value for its FBS percentile (100 = best). Grey cells have too few plays to trust yet.

EPA here is raw: it is not adjusted for the opponents a team has faced, and garbage time is left out, so these numbers match the rest of our NCAAF team stats. Every team name opens its team page.

Windows. Season is every regular-season game so far against FBS opponents. Last 8 / 5 / 3 are each team's most recent games. Home and Away keep only those games; neutral-site games count in Season but in neither split.

Free and members. Season and Last 5 are free for everyone. Last 8, Last 3 and the home/away splits are part of Analytics, and every higher plan includes them.

What the numbers mean

EPA/play
Expected points added per snap: how much each play moved a team's scoring chances. Above zero is better than an average play.
Success rate
The share of snaps that added expected points.
Explosive pass % / run %
Passes that gained 15+ yards (20+ in its own column) and runs that gained 10+, per pass play and per run.
Dropback rate, early-down pass %
How often a team throws, overall and on first and second down. Style measures: neither high nor low is better.
Neutral sec/snap
How quickly an offense snaps the ball when the game is close. Lower is faster.
Third-down, red-zone and turnover numbers
Conversion rate on third down, EPA and touchdown rate inside the opponent's 20, and giveaways per play.
