NHL Skaters

Scoring, shooting, on-ice shot and expected-goal shares, relative impact and special-teams usage for every NHL skater.

Reading the leaderboard

Pick a season, a window and a position. The default view lists skaters who meet the window's minimum, shown as "Min. X games · X min": for Season, a quarter of the team games played so far and 10 minutes of ice time per required game; 10 games and 100 minutes for Last 20, 5 and 50 for Last 10, 3 and 25 for Last 5. Choose Everyone to see every player; players below the minimum are greyed and not ranked. Rank (#) is points among qualified players at the chosen position. Display shows and hides metric groups and switches values to percentiles (100 = best).

On-ice numbers count everything that happened while the player was on the ice, for his team and against it. Unless a metric says otherwise they are at 5-on-5 with both goalies in net. Relative numbers compare his on-ice share with his team's share in the same games while he was on the bench, so a positive number means the team did better with him on. Ice time comes from the NHL's shift charts.

Expected goals (xG) are G&W's own: the chance each unblocked shot attempt becomes a goal, added up. A team that creates more xG than it allows is controlling the quality of play, whatever the score said. High-danger chances are G&W's highest tier of scoring chances. Per-60 rates use time on ice from the NHL's shift charts.

Windows. Season is every regular-season game so far. Last 20 / 10 / 5 are each player's most recent games. Home and Away keep only those games. Custom dates covers any date range you choose. Every number is recomputed from the games themselves, never averaged from per-game rates.

Free and members. Season and Last 20 are free for everyone. Last 10, Last 5, home and away, custom dates and game logs are part of Analytics, and every higher plan includes them.
