Every team by strength state and score state: shares, rates per 60 and time spent in each situation.
Reading the explorer
Choose a strength state (5-on-5, power play, penalty kill, 4-on-4 and 3-on-3, the opponent's net empty, or your own net empty) and a score state (leading, tied or trailing, from the team's side, using the score before each shot). The table ranks every team in that situation; click a team, or pick it under Team breakdown, for its full grid of strength by score with minutes per game, expected-goals share and goals share in every cell.
Shares (xGF%, CF%, GF%, SF%, HDCF%) are the team's part of everything that happened in the situation. Rates are per 60 minutes spent in it. Minutes per game shows how often a team ends up there: a team that trails a lot plays more minutes trailing.
Expected goals (xG) are G&W's own: the chance each unblocked shot attempt becomes a goal, added up. A team that creates more xG than it allows is controlling the quality of play, whatever the score said. High-danger chances are G&W's highest tier of scoring chances. Per-60 rates use time on ice from the NHL's shift charts.
