Why NFL weather matters

Strong wind is the weather that matters most for football: it shortens kicks and makes deep passing harder. Heavy rain and snow matter less than most bettors think, and domes and closed roofs take weather out entirely.

How to use it

  • Start with the wind column at kickoff, not the daily high.
  • Check back near kickoff: forecasts for wind change more than for temperature.
  • Open the Weather board for the hour-by-hour trend at each stadium.
